Which “Transport” application should I use during the Paris 2024 Games?
Published May 22 2024
The “Transport Public Paris 2024” application has just been published. It is dedicated to spectators of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to accompany them to the competition sites by public transport or active mobility (walking and cycling).
For other daily trips, Ile-de-France residents are encouraged to use the “Île-de-France Mobilités” application, while inquiring beforehand on “Anticipate the Games” to find out traffic forecasts on public transport lines.
Île-de-France Mobilités: the application for everyday travel for Ile-de-France residents
The “Île-de-France Mobilités” application is the Francilien's reference application for traveling in the region.
She allows to plan all your trips by public transport, with a personal bicycle or on foot, as well as accessing the Vélib' Métropole service or finding carpooling solutions, for example. This application gives in real time all network traffic information Île-de-France Mobilités (metro, RER, train, tramway, bus), or the times of the next passages.
It also allows to buy certain transport tickets without having to go to the counter: t+ tickets, Navigo Day, Week or Month packages, OrlyBus and RoissyBus tickets, etc.
Transport Public Paris 2024: the application for Games spectators
The application “ Public Transport Paris 2024 » was specifically developed to guide the millions of spectators on public transport in Île-de-France for their journeys to the competition and celebration sites of the Paris 2024 Games.
The proposed routes to the Paris 2024 sites are based on the advice of Île-de-France Mobilités, the transport organizing authority in Île-de-France, and make it possible to distribute spectators on the different transport lines, in taking into account real-time incidents affecting these lines.
Why use the Transport Public Paris 2024 application to go to a competition site?
Bookmark competition sites and event dates
Depending on the events you are going to attend, the application offers to bookmark the competition sites and the dates on which you wish to go there.
You will also have the choice between the different entry gates depending on the seat indicated on your ticket for the following competition sites: the Arena Paris Sud, the Parc des Princes, the Alexandre-III bridge, Trocadéro and the Vaires nautical stadium -sur-Marne.
This will allow you to receive personalized notifications, the day before to anticipate your journeys, and on the big day in the event of possible disruptions on your routes.
Choose your mode of transport
The application then lists different routes depending on the mode of travel that suits you most: metro, bike, walking, etc.
Among them, a “Paris 2024 Journey” indicated in pink will tell you the recommended route to avoid saturation of a line and therefore delays on your trip.
In the route search filters, you can also specify whether you have your own bike, how fast you walk, whether you are in a wheelchair, etc.
The example of a journey from Châtelet-Les-Halles to the Stade de France
The Stade de France will host the athletics, rugby sevens, para athletics competitions and the closing ceremonies.
To get there from Châtelet-Les-Halles station, the application may suggest that you take the RER D or Metro 14, even if the quickest and most usual route is with the RER B. The distribution of passengers on these three lines will reduce waiting times and the risk of malfunctions.
Buy your transport ticket
On the two applications “Île-de-France Mobilités” and “Transport Public Paris 2024”, one of the tabs will allow you as spectators from June to purchase a “Paris 2024” pass, available on your phone. This is an unlimited travel package, with a decreasing price per day. The more days you take, the lower the daily rate: from €16 for a single day to €10 per day for a week. This package can be used from July 20 to September 8 only.
If you are from Île-de-France, you can :
- use your subscription (Navigo Annual, Navigo Month, Imagine R, Amethyst, Beneficiaries social pricing) without impact on monthly prices ;
- subscribe to a Navigo Liberté + in order to travel in Île-de-France and pay for trips made at the end of the month, without increasing the price;
- buy tickets to benefit from the usual prices before July 20, 2024;
What is the difference between the interactive map of “Anticipate the Games” and the transport applications?
Ahead of this summer's Games, the interactive map of the site anticipaterlesjeux.gouv.fr allows you to predict the impacts on your usual journeys (between your home and your workplace for example).
Used in addition to the usual route planners for all daily journeys, this map lists in particular, according to a specific date and time:
- The expected crowds on an entire line;
- Closed stations and tram stops not served;
- Stations to favor (noted in green) and those to avoid (noted in red).
Consult the interactive map
It shows you the crowd forecasts for public transport in Île-de-France, hour by hour, day by day.
During the Paris 2024 Games, the “Île-de-France Mobilités” and “Transport public Paris 2024” applications make it possible to find out about possible incidents in real time. For any information on forecast attendance, the reference remains the interactive map on the “Anticipate the Games” site.
