Paralympic marathon: what impact on your travel in Seine-Saint-Denis and Paris (September 8)?

On September 8, the 80 athletes of the Paralympic marathon will cross 9 municipalities of Seine-Saint-Denis and 7 arrondissements of Paris. What impacts can you expect on your travels?

The Paralympic Marathon Course
September 8, the test will take place from 8AM to 13PM with delayed departures:
- 8h for T54 men (wheelchair)
- 8:15 a.m. for T54 women (wheelchair)
- 8:30 a.m. for T12 men and women (visually impaired)
Main places : La Courneuve (Georges-Valbon Park); Dugny; Stains; Le Bourget; Drancy; Bobigny; Pantin; Saint-Denis (Basilica, Stade de France); Aubervilliers; Paris (Buttes-Chaumont, Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde, Arc de Triomphe, Esplanade des Invalides).

Roads: How to travel during the Paralympic marathon event?
The security perimeter
For the Paralympic marathon event, a red motorized traffic restriction perimeter is activated. It extends over the 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 19th arrondissements of Paris and the municipalities concerned in Seine-Saint-Denis.
To secure the course of the event, several measures have been put in place and will restrict motorized traffic:
- 3h in the morning : a barrier on the course of the event is put in place 5 hours before the event. Please note that the barrier will be gradually removed until September 11.
- 5h in the morning : the red perimeter prohibiting motorized traffic is activated 3 hours before the start of the event.
- Until 7 a.m. : as soon as the perimeter is activated, the circulation ban for all motorized vehicles is effective, except for local residents and beneficiaries upon check by the police and upon presentation of proof (but without a Games Pass), 1 hour before the start of the event.
- Shear points for motor vehicles are open again 15 minutes after the last athlete has passed.
- To 15h : the perimeter will be deactivated until 2 hours after the end of the competitions.
Please note that this area will probably be very busy on D-Day, particularly at the entrance to the area where checks are carried out.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to circulate within the red perimeter without restrictions.
Rules for crossing the course
Pedestrian crossing points every 400 meters allows you to cross the race routeThe police will open these crossing points punctually depending on the progress of the event, so as not to disturb the athletes.
Cyclists must cross on foot.
From 5am, crossing points will be set upThey may only be used by emergency vehicles and local residents' vehicles, with special authorization from the police.
Residents of the area will be able to circulate there until 7 a.m. at the latest., upon presentation of proof to the police.
These crossing points will reopen for crossing 15 minutes after the last athlete has passed.

Parking Rules
From September 4th at 8am to September 9th at 9am, parking of vehicles will be prohibited in certain lanes of Paris Centre and in the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 18th and 19th arrondissements of Paris.

What transport is impacted by the Paralympic Games and the Paralympic marathon on September 8?
As a reminder, the following stations are closed for the entire duration of the Games :
- Champs-Élysées - Clémenceau, Concorde, Tuileries stations
- Concorde station
- Concorde station
- Champs-Elysées - Clemenceau station
As a reminder, The following stations are closed for the duration of the Games :
- Porte d'Issy and Porte de Versailles stops not served. Terminus / origin Suzanne Lenglen
- Colette Besson stop not served
Exceptional closures for the test:
- from 5:40 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., traffic interrupted from the “Théâtre Gérard Philippe” stop to the “Cimetière St Denis” stop
- From 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., the “Pierre de Geyter” and “St Denis – Porte de Paris” stops will be closed. Connections with metro line 13 will no longer be provided.
Several bus lines, neighborhood shuttles, Noctiliens are modified in September, including on the day of the Paralympic marathon.
